Board & Staff

Christine Heaney

Christine has a long association with Creative Napier, dating back to 1997 when she joined as a Board member. She trained in England in Graphic and Textile Design and was selected as a finalist for 5 successive years in The World of WearableArt. She continues to create her own art and combine it with her part time position as Community Arts Coordinator.

Christine hopes having an artist at the helm of Creative Napier will make our organisation more identity friendly

Jackie Schollee

Jackie ScholleeJackie was invited to join Creative Napier as a Board Member in 2007 when she was owner and manager of the Willow Art Gallery and Wine Bar.  In 2008 she became Treasurer and in February 2011 she was appointed as Chair Person.

“Although not an artist myself I have a great appreciation of art and the Arts and a I feel privileged to be part of an organisation that promotes and encourages local artists.  I will do whatever I can to support the establishment of a  Community Arts’ Centre that is managed by Creative Napier”

Liam Farris

Liam Farris

Napier-born Liam is a local musician who has gigged around Hawke’s Bay both solo and with various bands for almost 25 years. He is also interested in and has dabbled with other art forms, e.g. photography and wood carving, and this interest led him into becoming involved with Creative Napier in 1999.

Since 2005 he has been a Creative Napier Board member, in particular helping with concerts, the organization’s database update/upgrade, and more recently participating in the redesign of its website.

He continues to perform as a musician around Napier and also teaches guitar part-time.

Mark Heaney

Mark HeaneyMark Heaney brings some business acumen to the Board having worked for many years as a senior manager and executive director in a variety of public sector organisations both in the UK and New Zealand. As Board Secretary he has a particular interest in legislative compliance, performance development and business growth. His structured approach compliments the creative side of the organisation when it comes to fundraising and event management, he’s the one with a trailer and a sense of humour.

Raewyn Harris

Raewyn HarrisRaewyn joined the Board of Creative Napier in 2011.  Raewyn has a strong interest in organisational development so that they meet the needs of the community they serve. She would like to see an exhibition and work space for professional and emerging artists in Napier.  Raewyn paints with acrylics and makes books and works part time as a coach and counsellor.

Yvette O’Neill

Born in London, Yvette moved to New Zealand in ’86, with absolutely no regrets. Her background has been in the commercial world: management, business set-up, sales and marketing, making Yvette a welcome an asset on the board of Creative Napier.  Moving from Wellington to Napier in 2008, Yvette finally had the opportunity to become a full time artist.  Her work has been selected for local exhibitions and the Academy of Fine Arts in Wellington.  She is passionate about the need for Community Arts Centre in Napier to showcase the extraordinary variety, depth, and standard of local art.   Yvette is currently running Viva Gallery in Ahuriri, which she set up in 2011 to promote local talent. The gallery is a co-operative of artists exhibiting paintings, sculpture, jewellery, furniture and pottery.
