There's quite a bit of news to cover this week, so here goes...

I'll be in Asher Hall this evening and tomorrow during the with Mid Winter Warm Up Craft Market with another opportunity for you to see our concept plans and display boards for the new Napier Arts Centre.  So come and check them out and at the same time you might spot something for sale that you really cannot do without.  The market is organised by the same group as the highly successful pop-up shop, Made-It-Here-In-Napier, on Hastings Street just before Christmas last year.  Building on the success of the shop they have collaborated again to bring you a curated collection of over 30 stalls, each selling unique hand crafted products.  We'll be there today from 4.00 till 7.30pm and again tomorrow from 10.00am till 3.00pm.  The first 30 customers through this evening will receive a goody bag containing a selection of donated products and vouchers.  So every reason to come early!

Next, an unapologetic plug for our Arts-e-News sponsor... Artist Net.  I received this from Yvette O'Neill at Viva Gallery:
... delighted to recommend Artist Net and their services.  It was such fun making my web-site.  The template is brilliant and so easy to use.  And it can be changed and added to by me at any time.  It only costs $250 which includes the subscription and my domain name - and the first month is free!
So if your'e thinking of setting up your own website, check out the link below first.

If you like writing, how about entering the Poppies and NZSA Central Districts Short Story Competition 2013 with a prize pool of over $1000 - open and student categories.  For more details check out the events page on our website or email adelebroadbent@ruralkiwi.com. Entries can be accepted from July 7 to September 7 so there's plenty of time to find your muse.

And finally, I can recommend a visit to Sam Lewry's Studio (www.lewry.co.nz) at 54 Logan Avenue in Marewa.  She paints in a graphic style using vivid colours in oils and acrylics with a strong sense of movement.  And she has LOTS of work to see!  Sam is open Saturday to Tuesday and at other times by request on 06 843 5254.
